XBD Series Single-Stage Horizontal Fire Pump

XBD series electric motor fire pump set is a new product developed by our company according to market needs. Its performance and technical conditions meet the requirements of the newly promulgated national GB6245-2006 “Fire Pump” standard. The product was certified by the Fire Protection Product Conformity Assessment Center of the Ministry of Emergency Management and obtained the fire protection product certification (formerly CCCF China National Compulsory Product Certification Certificate).

XBD Series Single-Stage Horizontal Fire Pump

This series of fire pump products have reached the domestic leading level and have the advantages of excellent performance, reliable operation, small vibration and low noise. It also has the advantages of compact structure, light weight, beautiful appearance, small footprint, convenient installation and maintenance, and reduced civil construction cost of the pump station.

The XBD series electric motor fire pump units have optimized models and more reasonable distribution, which can better adapt to the fire protection needs of different floors and pipe resistance, and meet the design selection.

Model Description

Installation Requirements
  1. Before installation, carefully check whether there are any hard objects in the flow channel of the pump body to avoid damaging the impeller and pump body during operation.
  2. The weight of the pipeline is not allowed to be added to the pump to avoid deforming the pump and affecting normal operation.
  3. The water pump should be designed as a self-tank type. The suction pipe of the pump should be equipped with maintenance valves and soft joints. A vacuum pressure gauge should be installed at the pump inlet. The automatic sprinkler fire pump should also be equipped with a dirt interceptor.
  4. Each group of fire water pumps must have no less than two suction pipes. When one of them is damaged or malfunctions or is repaired, the remaining suction pipes should still be able to pass the full flow. If there are two pressure-stabilizing pump sets, they can share one suction pipe.
  5. Soft joints, check valves, gate valves, and pressure gauges should be installed on the water pump outlet pipe; a drain valve for testing and inspection should be installed on the outlet main pipe of each group of fire pumps.
  6. The fire pump room should be equipped with no less than two water supply pipes connected to the annular pipe network. Its pipe diameter is the same as the ring pipe diameter.
  7. To eliminate overpressure in the water supply system of high-rise buildings, measures should be taken to prevent overpressure. Generally, a safety valve can be installed on the outlet pipe of the fire water pump. The outlet pipe of the safety valve should be led to the drainage ditch on the ground of the pump room.
Starting and Stopping the Pump

(1) Preparation before start-up

  1. Turn the motor fan blades by hand. The impeller should have no jamming and rotate flexibly.
  2. Open the inlet valve, open the exhaust valve to fill the entire pump chamber with liquid, and then close the exhaust valve.
  3. Turn the pump by hand to allow the lubricant to enter the sealing end face of the machine seal.
  4. Jog the motor to confirm whether the steering is correct.

(2) Startup and operation

  1. Fully open the inlet valve and close the discharge pipe valve.
  2. Have a professional electrician with corresponding qualifications turn on the power. When the pump reaches normal speed, gradually open the valve on the discharge pipeline and adjust it to the required working conditions.
  3. Pay attention to the instrument reading and check the shaft seal leakage. Normally, the mechanical seal leakage is <3 drops/min. Check that the temperature at the motor bearing does not exceed 95’C (thermometer method). If any abnormality is found, handle it in time.

(3) Parking

  1. Gradually close the discharge pipe valve and cut off the power supply.
  2. Close the inlet valve.
  3. If the ambient temperature is lower than 0″C, the liquid in the pump should be drained to avoid freezing and cracking.
  4. If it is not used for a long time, the pump should be disassembled, cleaned, and packaged for storage.
Pump Maintenance

(1) Maintenance during operation

  1. The inlet pipeline must be filled with liquid, and the pump is prohibited from operating in a cavitation state.
  2. Check the motor current value regularly, and it must not exceed the rated current of the motor.
  3. After the pump has been running for a long time, due to the wear of the mechanical seal, the noise and vibration of the unit may increase, causing leakage and performance degradation. At this time, you should stop for inspection. Wearing parts can be replaced when necessary, and the unit overhaul period is one year.
Special Note
  • Do not add the weight of the pipeline to the pump to avoid deformation and damage to the pump body.
  • Before running the pump, the bleed valve at the mechanical seal must be opened to release the air, and at the same time, turn the pump by hand to allow liquid to enter the mechanical seal end face to prevent the mechanical seal end face from being burned.
  • The outlet valve must be controlled to prevent the pump from operating under extremely large flow rates, which may damage the motor or cause cavitation.
  • In order to prevent the pump from rusting due to long-term standby, it should be started up and run regularly, no less than twice a month, and each run should last for more than 5 to 10 minutes.
