Recently, three cryogenic molten salt pumps specially developed by Kaiquan for the State Energy Group’s Dunhuang “Solar Thermal+” 100MW molten salt linear Fresnel solar thermal project have completed all production and factory testing and have been delivered to the project site with high quality.
The successful delivery of this batch of key equipment provides a reliable guarantee for the construction and progress of this benchmark project of the national “Gobi Desert” new energy base.

Dunhuang “Solar Thermal+” Project

The Dunhuang “Solar Thermal+” project is located in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province, and is one of the key projects of the first batch of national large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases.
The project integrates wind power, photovoltaic, and solar thermal technologies, including a 100MW linear Fresnel solar thermal power plant. It is currently the largest linear Fresnel technology application model in China’s ongoing and operational projects. It has significant strategic importance for the development of solar thermal power generation technology and the innovation of multi-energy complementary models in my country.
Molten Salt Transport Equipment
In this project, Kaiquan undertook the research and development and supply of the core molten salt transport equipment—the cryogenic molten salt pumps.
The pump sets delivered this time adopt a “two-in-one-out” configuration, model KQLB350-178, specifically designed for the harsh operating conditions of high-temperature, long-cycle operation in solar thermal power plants. Under rated operating conditions, the pump set achieves a dual-pump flow rate of 1539 m³/h and a head of 178 meters of salt column. Under maximum operating conditions, performance can be further enhanced to a flow rate of 1940 m³/h and a head of 260 meters of salt column. The equipment is designed to withstand temperatures up to 400℃ and adopts a suspended installation method with a suspension length of 18.7 meters. It is fully adaptable to the high-temperature, long-shaft operating environment of molten salt systems.

Molten Salt Pumps Successfully Delivered and Shipped
Since receiving the order, Kaiquan immediately established a dedicated technical and service team. Adhering to the philosophy of “lean manufacturing, quality first,” they implemented meticulous control throughout the entire process.
From material selection and process design to assembly and testing, each step strictly adhered to quality standards to ensure that product performance fully met design requirements. Ultimately, all three molten salt pumps passed all factory tests on the first attempt and were successfully delivered and shipped.
Kaiquan’s Capabilities Validated Again
This successful delivery further validates Kaiquan’s technological strength and ability to fulfill major project contracts in the field of high-end special pumps. The company will continue to provide reliable technical support and service guarantees to ensure the stable and efficient operation of this batch of equipment in the Dunhuang project. This contributes solid equipment strength to promoting the transformation of the national energy structure and green, low-carbon development.
