Kaiquan KQWT decentralized sewage treatment products successfully passed the scientific and technological achievement evaluation

Evaluation of scientific and technological achievements

The Water Environment Governance Committee of the All-China Environmental Protection Federation held an evaluation meeting in Beijing for the “Kaiquan KQWT Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Product” product.

Yang Chaofei, former Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, served as Chairperson, and Peng Yingdeng, Researcher at the National Center for Urban Environmental Pollution Control Technology, served as Vice Chairperson. The evaluation committee unanimously agreed that the product demonstrated a high level of integration, possessed significant application value and promotional prospects, and that the overall technology reached internationally advanced levels.

Participants

The meeting was chaired by Yan Wukun, Director of the Environmental Technology Promotion and Application Division. The evaluation committee included Liao Haiqing, Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences; Tian Rensheng, Researcher at the Institute of Environmental Planning, Ministry of Ecology and Environment; Wu Changyong, Researcher at the Chinese Academy of Environmental Sciences; Zhu Jiqin, Professor at Beijing University of Chemical Technology; He Xuwen, Professor at China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing); and Gao Shan, Researcher at the Institute of Environmental Protection, Light Industry.

Detailed project report

At the meeting, Zhang Hao, Chief Wastewater Treatment Engineer at the Kaiquan Municipal Engineering Division, presented a detailed project report to the expert panel. The experts listened to reports on technology development and application, reviewed relevant technical documentation, and, after questioning, discussion, and debate, formed the following opinions:

1. The provided information is complete and meets the evaluation requirements.

2. The project has developed the KQWT series of decentralized wastewater treatment products, completed one research report, and possesses comprehensive analytical and testing reports, scientific and technological novelty reports, and has applied for 17 patents/software copyrights.

3. The innovation of this project lies in its integration of a staged-inlet, two-stage AO-MBBR treatment process with adsorption-based phosphorus removal and filtration technology, tailored to the characteristics of decentralized rural wastewater. The key technologies are:

① Pure biofilm-based, staged-inlet, two-stage AO process + adsorption-based phosphorus removal and filtration technology;

② Low-cost, full-gas lift control technology within the wastewater treatment equipment;

③ Mud membrane switching and multi-mode operation technology.

The product has the following advantages

① For decentralized domestic wastewater treatment, the equipment can reduce direct operating costs (electricity + chemical costs) to 0.3-0.6 yuan/ton of water;

② The equipment utilizes a full-gas lift design with no internal power components, significantly reducing equipment failure rates. For decentralized wastewater treatment, the equipment can be unmanned during normal operation, with maintenance requiring only a two-week inspection.

③ The designed effluent can meet the highest Class A emission standard in the “Pollutant Discharge Standard for Urban Wastewater Treatment Plants” (GB18918-2002).

④ The equipment is highly integrated, with integrated sludge tanks and disinfection tanks, and the equipment footprint is ≤0.5 m2 per ton of water.

⑤ The main equipment has a long service life. Therefore, the technology and products of this project are suitable for the characteristics and treatment needs of rural domestic wastewater discharge.

4. The results of this project have been applied to sewage treatment in townships in over 20 provinces nationwide, treating a cumulative 22,375 tons of sewage per day, and delivering positive environmental and social benefits.
