An industrial gas company located in Fuzhou, Fujian, is a large-scale production enterprise integrating bulk gas production, special gas research and development and customization, and providing comprehensive gas.
In order to actively respond to the national call for energy conservation and emission reduction and eliminate high-energy consumption equipment, the company invited Kaiquan energy-saving engineers to conduct comprehensive testing and optimization of its water pump system.

1. Solution

After on-site surveys by Kaiquan engineers, as well as through a variety of demonstration methods and tools, the energy-saving potential of the customer’s water circulation system was evaluated, calculated and communicated and analyzed, and it was found that the company’s water pump system energy consumption remained high. The main reasons are as follows:

1. The original pump design head is too high, and the actual operation point of the pump deviates from the high-efficiency zone;
2. The original pump design efficiency is low, with only high-efficiency points but no high-efficiency zone, which cannot be changed;
3. The motor uses an obsolete motor with low efficiency, which leads to further increase in energy consumption;
4. The outlet valve resistance is too large, and part of the motor energy is consumed in overcoming the valve resistance;
5. Cavitation occurs during the operation of the pump, causing the pump’s operating efficiency to further decrease.

In response to these problems, Kaiquan engineers tailored a set of high-efficiency and energy-saving solutions for customers based on on-site conditions and production process requirements:

The old pump 132KW motor and water pump were replaced with Kaiquan 110KW high-efficiency and energy-saving double-suction pumps, equipped with new secondary energy-efficient motors. The operation mode before and after the transformation remained unchanged, and two pumps were still used to run in parallel.

In addition, the final pump system energy-saving report also clearly showed the operating status, efficiency and energy consumption of the customer’s original pump system, as well as the system operation energy saving rate after replacing the original old pump with Kaiquan smart intelligent flow width high-efficiency double-suction pumps.

2. Energy-saving results

“The high-efficiency zone of Kaiquan wide-efficiency double-suction pump is 12%-20% wider than that of ordinary water pumps. Even if the water consumption changes due to seasonal changes, the water pump can still operate in a low-energy consumption range.”

According to relevant technical personnel, after the new pump was put into use, the operating efficiency was greatly improved, the cavitation phenomenon of the water pump was eliminated, the unit operated smoothly, and the vibration and temperature values ​​were better than the standard values.

The power saving rate of the modified cooling water circulation system reached 39%, saving about 400,000 to 500,000 yuan in electricity bills each year, and the payback period of investment was only 4 months.

Through this renovation, the gas company’s pump room operating costs have been significantly reduced, and a long-term cooperative relationship has been established with Kaiquan.

In addition, Kaiquan also assisted customers in surveying and technical exchanges on the circulating water systems of the company’s subordinate production enterprises, preliminarily predicted the energy-saving transformation potential of the equipment, promoted energy-saving transformation, and created greater value for customers.
