Kaiquan solar thermal power generation and energy storage molten salt pump passed the appraisal

Product Appraisal Meeting

On March 18, Kaiquan’s independently developed “solar thermal power generation and energy storage molten salt pump” successfully passed the product appraisal organized by the China General Machinery Industry Association.
The appraisal meeting was chaired by Huang Li, president of the association. And the expert group led by Sui Yongbin, former chief engineer of the China Machinery Industry Federation, gathered more than ten experts from the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China Nuclear Operation Research Institute, Northwest Electric Power Research Institute, Tsinghua University, Northwest Survey and Design Institute, Inner Mongolia Electric Power Survey and Design Institute, Xi’an Thermal Engineering Research Institute, North China Electric Power Design Institute and Central South Survey and Design Institute to participate in the review.

Appraisal content

The appraisal committee, through on-site inspection of the production test base, review of technical documents and user operation data, believes that the main innovations and technical features of solar thermal power generation and energy storage molten salt pumps are:

1. A multi-stage centrifugal pump hydraulic model adapted to molten salt medium has been developed to meet the requirements of high efficiency and multiple working conditions;

2. Two structural types, VS1 and VS4, are adopted, and modal analysis, rotor dynamics and thermal coupling analysis methods are used to optimize the overall structure, with low vibration and good pump unit variable operation stability;

3. A multiple shaft seal structure of throttling, overflow, dry gas seal and packing combination has been developed. With good sealing performance, meeting the operation requirements of thermal deformation under high temperature.

Appraisal results

The appraisal committee believes that the developed CSP and energy storage molten salt pump products have independent intellectual property rights. The main technical indicators have reached the advanced level of similar international products, and it is recommended to promote and apply them.
This appraisal is not only an important milestone for Kaiquan in the field of CSP and energy storage, but also an authoritative certification of the company’s R&D strength in the field of high temperature and high pressure.

At present, Kaiquan’s high-temperature molten salt pump products are running smoothly and well in multiple working conditions at sites such as Dunhuang CSP and the fourth-generation nuclear power research reactor. The longest operation time has exceeded 5 years.
