Linxiang, Hunan, this fertile land known as the “gateway to northern Hunan”, has been inseparable from water since ancient times because it is located at the intersection of the Yangtze River and the Xiang River. Because of its high terrain in the south and low in the north, it has abundant rainfall. Since history, floods and waterlogging disasters have occurred frequently, seriously threatening agricultural production and people’s lives.

Linxiang floods need to be solved urgently

Especially the Yehu Pihong Canal, as an important drainage channel in the area, mainly regulates the waterlogging of Baini Lake, Yangxi Lake in Yunxi District and Yehu Lake in Linxiang City, and solves the water demand for 154,100 acres of agricultural production in one city and one district in the region.

However, due to the long design age and the lack of external drainage pumping stations in the region, the drainage capacity is limited and it is overwhelmed in extreme weather. In 2016 and 2017, the waterlogging lasted for more than 30 days for two consecutive years, causing huge losses to local agricultural production.

In order to completely resolve the water conflicts in the border areas between Linxiang City and Yunxi District, scientifically manage the water dispatch in the Yehu flood diversion area, and ensure the water safety in the Yehu flood diversion area and surrounding areas, the Linxiang Municipal Government launched the Linxiang Yehu Electric Pumping Station Construction Project in the Yangtze River Flood Area of ​​Yueyang City in 2023. As one of the leading companies in the domestic pump industry, Kaiquan resolutely took on the responsibility of solving problems for the people of Linxiang.

Precisely implement policies to protect the safety of rivers

After taking over the project, Kaiquan quickly organized a technical team to go deep into the project site for field surveys and data analysis. With a precise grasp of the original flow channel site conditions and the original design drawings, the technicians carefully selected a water pump model that met the project requirements, and through the CFD analysis of the pump station flow channel, it was highly recognized and supported by the design institute.

During the design phase, Kaiquan worked closely with the design institute, had in-depth exchanges many times, and discussed key design solutions together to ensure the scientificity and rationality of the project solution. Taking into account the actual situation in Linxiang, Kaiquan strictly designed the drainage standard of controlling the water level of Yehu Pihong River in a 10-year rainstorm, and provided 4 1700-caliber 1200KW submersible axial flow pumps for the project, and adopted the same water inlet flow channel as the existing pump station, making maximum use of existing facilities.

With the smooth progress of the project, the first two submersible axial flow pumps have been successfully delivered and put into operation. Their addition is like installing a powerful “heart” for the flood diversion channels in Linxiang City and Yunxi District, greatly improving the drainage capacity and effectively reducing the pressure of flood prevention work.
