In recent years, Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia, has experienced heavy rainfall and an increase in rainfall. The original rainwater drainage pipes in both the old and new urban areas have been unable to bear the burden. During peak drainage periods, they are inadequate, resulting in frequent waterlogging and flooding on urban roads, which seriously disrupts the daily travel of citizens.

To significantly enhance the urban drainage and flood prevention capacity and effectively solve the problem of road waterlogging in the new urban area during the flood season. The Housing and Urban-Rural Development Bureau of Tongliao City made early plans and meticulous arrangements, and vigorously promoted the construction of drainage and flood control projects. With its outstanding technical strength and rich industry experience, Kaiquan actively participated in two key projects – the renovation project of Tongqian Main Canal on Huolinhe Street and the rainwater culvert project on Liaohe Street.
Key points of the case
The renovation project of Tongqian Main Canal and its supporting rainwater pipe network in the central urban area of Tongliao City is located in Keerqin District, Tongliao City.
Kaiquan is responsible for the construction of this project. A total of 7,645.22 meters of box culverts ranging from 2.4×2.2m to 9×4m will be newly built, using reinforced concrete structure. At the same time, an efficient rainwater lift pumping station will be constructed as a supporting facility. The flow rate of this pumping station is 8.9m³/s and the head is 12m. It adopts the form of an integrated prefabricated pumping station and uses the Kaiquan underground integrated equipment (model WOYT-34200-31998-6). It is equipped with 6 submersible axial flow pumps (pump model 700ZQ-40-280). Flow rate: 1.5m³/s, head: 12m, power: 280kw.
The Liaohe Street Rainwater Culvert Project is located on the north side of Liaohe Street in Tongliao Economic and Technological Development Zone, starting from the existing underground channel on Wulanhua Road in the west and ending at the lower reaches of the Yuelai River in the east.
In this project, Kaiquan will build 4.2 kilometers of new rainwater culverts and one rainwater lift station with a capacity of 50 cubic meters per second. The pumping station selects submersible axial flow pumps driven by high-voltage motors from Kaiquan Pump Industry, including 4 units of 1000ZQ-70G-630kw-10Kv type (flow rate 4m³/s, head 11m, power 630kw). In addition, there are 4 sets of 1000ZQ-50-400kw-10Kv type (flow rate 2.5m³/s, head 11m, power 400kw), totaling 8 sets of drainage equipment to be installed.

Project outcome
Now that the project has been completed and put into use, the urban drainage capacity has been increased to more than five times that of the original.
In the face of heavy to torrential rain with a daily rainfall of about 100 millimeters, there is basically no water accumulation on the road surface. Even in the event of an extremely heavy rainstorm with a daily rainfall of about 200 millimeters, the rainwater in the urban area can be basically drained away within two hours.
This has greatly enhanced the overall drainage and flood prevention capacity of both the old and new urban areas, effectively solving the long-standing problem of water accumulation and waterlogging in both urban areas during heavy rainfall. Kaiquan Pump Industry has played a significant role in this process with its high-quality equipment.
