Tianjin Bohai Petrochemical is advancing a supply chain extension project.

This company, which originally only produced propylene, is now extending its supply chain all the way to superabsorbent polymer (SAP) – through acrylic acid and acrylates – creating a complete C3 chain. Once this chain is operational, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will have its own acrylate and SAP production capacity, eliminating the need for heavy reliance on inter-regional transshipment and reducing safety risks and logistics costs.
The project is highly anticipated, with a substantial investment and expected annual output value. However, all these ambitious goals ultimately depend on the stable operation of individual pieces of equipment. Eighteen pumps are one of the crucial guarantees.
Three Hard Requirements
The requirements for pumps in chemical projects are never simply “good enough.” Especially for continuous production units like this, a single downtime can result in losses in the millions. The project team has set three hard requirements:
First, compliance with API 610 standards. This is a key international design specification for petrochemical pumps. A continuous operating cycle of no less than 3 years and an overall lifespan of no less than 20 years are required. This means that every detail of the pump, from bearings and seals to the casing, must be flawless.
Second, it must withstand the coastal environment. The project is located in Tianjin Binhai New Area, near the port, with high humidity and salt spray corrosion. Ordinary pumps placed there would experience accelerated aging of the motor insulation, rusting of the casing, and leaks in the seals. This isn’t an optional extra; it’s a necessity.
Third, the media conditions are harsh. Acrylic acid and acrylates are highly corrosive, and the temperatures are not low. Any weakness in the pump’s materials, sealing structure, or cavitation resistance could become the weakest link in the production line.
Kaiquan’s Solution: KZA Series Process Pumps

Kaiquan has developed the KZA series petrochemical process pumps to address these requirements. This series is designed according to the API 610 standard, and its structure and materials are rigorously tested:
✅ Compliance: The entire unit is built strictly according to the API 610 standard, equipped with an excellent hydraulic model and standard mechanical seals. The product is highly standardized, serialized, and universal, adaptable to unified selection and operation and maintenance management in petrochemical engineering.
✅ Stable: With a rational structural layout and optimized rotor dynamics, the machine exhibits low vibration, low noise, and stable operation, fully meeting the requirements for uninterrupted continuous operation in chemical plants.
✅ Energy-Saving: Precisely optimized hydraulic model results in high average operating efficiency and low energy consumption, making it the preferred model for energy saving, cost reduction, and efficiency improvement in chemical new materials projects.
✅ Cavitation Resistant: A dedicated impeller hydraulic design ensures low net positive suction head (NPSH) and outstanding cavitation resistance, effectively preventing cavitation damage caused by varying operating conditions and liquid level fluctuations, extending equipment service life.
✅ Convenient Maintenance: The KZA/E series impellers, bearings, suspensions, and other core components are highly interchangeable, with standardized spare parts and simplified maintenance, significantly reducing later maintenance costs and downtime.
✅ Strict Quality Control: From raw materials to factory testing, every step adheres to standards, ensuring that the performance of each piece of equipment precisely matches the project design and operating conditions.
In other words, this translates to: Making things worry-free for project owners.
18 Pumps, Passed Testing on the First Attempt

The project procured a total of 18 KZA series pumps. All pumps passed factory performance tests, sealing tests, and vibration and noise tests on the first attempt, ensuring high-standard delivery and timely on-site installation and commissioning.
For a chemical new materials project, the arrival of the pumps is only the first step. But a solid first step lays the foundation for long-term operation. Kaiquan provided not only the 18 pumps, but also comprehensive technical services throughout the entire lifecycle—from selection to operation and maintenance, accompanying the project every step of the way.
Tianjin Bohai Petrochemical’s C3 industrial chain is transforming from blueprint to reality. Kaiquan is honored to be a link in this chain.
Kaiquan, with API610 standard process pumps, safeguards the upgrading of the chemical new materials industrial chain.
